Accessory to Myrtle

Father and son band featuring Malcolm and Gideon Lucard and cellist Vartan Baronian
Malcolm and Gideon began singing together after the two were introduced to each other at a hospital in Colorado, USA, on May 24, 2001. The two have been making music together ever since.
Named after a rogue patch of myrtle (a low-growing invasive ornamental vine), Accessory to Myrtle is defined by haunting vocal harmonies and the sound of fingers and picks on stringed things — namely guitars, mandolins, banjos — with harmonica and hand percussion thrown in from time to time.

Backing up the band with soulful, haunting melodies, funky beats and swinging grooves is the king of the funk cello, Vartan Baronian.
Their sound
The fanciful fingerpicking and haunting, uplifting vocal harmonies of father and son blend with Vartan's cello to create a dynamic, one-of-a-kind musical journey into the depths of Americana rootsy folk, blues, country, rock and jazz.
