Local Venues

Cedars Jazz Club
3125 Sinton Road (just north of Fillmore & I-25)
Colorado Springs
(719) 578-5744

Here's ten reasons Cedars Jazz Club is a cool place to hang:
1) Cedars' cushy leather sofas. Once you plop yourself down, you'll never want to leave
2) There's a nice little dance floor; when you boogie, you won't be dodgin' tables
3) The bartender is really nice
4) Did I mention the cushy leather sofas?
5) There's lots of art hanging all over the place
6) It has big smoking and non-smoking sections
7) There's no cover charge
8) The owner supports live music and other artistic endeavors
9) It's still a cool (relatively) undiscovered place
10) The cushy leather sofas
Directions: Sinton is a north-south service road to I-25. It is just east of the entrance ramp to I-25 on Fillmore. Take Sinton North as it winds past Daimond Shamrock. Cedars is just past the little motel/apartment complex inside a culinary school.

Pine Gables
10530 Ute Pass Road
Green Mountain Falls
(719) 684-2555
Directions: Just 15 minutes from downtown Springs. Take 24 West past
Cascade. Take first Green Mountain Falls exit. Follow through
town, past pond. Pine Gables is on the corner. Pizza, burgers,
subs and beer. Smoking venue.

Jimbo's Bike and Coffee
2212 Academy Place
(719) 574-9005
Great non-smoking venue where people really tune into the music. There’s no beer, but you can order great English fish and chips and BBQ from a restaurant next door. Also, good coffee and teas. Owner Jim Adams, a great blues singer and player in his own right, opens most shows.
Directions: From Platte and Academy, go north on Academy past Constitution, go up over hill past Executive Park, take second right into shopping mall. If you go past Maizeland, you went too far. From Maizeland and Academy, go south, make first left across median into shopping mall area.

Wooglin's Deli
823 North Tejon Street

Great burgers, sandwiches, beer, super staff that really supports live music. No smoking.
Directions: On the corner of Tejon and Cache LaPoudre, just south of Colorado College.

Ravens Nest
330 North Institute
(719) 632-3433
No smoking. By far the smallest venue we play, but also one of the friendliest. This local neighborhood coffee shop is easy to find on the corner of Boulder and N. Institute. No real food, but the muffins, pastry, coffees and teas are fabulous. (PS-- I think Paul serves the best latte in town. Check it out.)

Laura Belle's
734 North 19th
(719) 630-7600
Just west of Uintah King Soopers. A great old west side Colorado Springs bar full of local character and history. Named for the grand old dame of west side brothels, the bar keeps the spirits alive. Smoking, drinking, pool, live music all have a home here.

Front Range BBQ
2330 West Colorado Ave.
(719)632-2596
www.frontrangebarbeque.com
Great Alabama style BBQ all year long but in the summer they have live music
on the patio. This is a fun place to hang on cool Colorado nights. PS--- I
highly recommend the catfish, but everything’s good here.

Some Favorite Out-Of-Town Venues

The Gunnison Brewery
138 N. Main
Gunnison, Colorado
(970) 641-BREW

A fairly small venue with a great big spirit. Not to mention lots of spirits, an outdoor patio in back, lots of friendly, adventurous Gunny locals, and a creative menu of yummy and healthy eats.

Princess Wine Bar
218 Elk Street
Crested Butte, Colorado
(970) 349-0210

This joint is proof that size isn’t everything. This joint is about the size of a railway car but it’s always full of cool folks who dig live tunes. I always have a good time at the Wine Bar and hanging with the Crested Butte clan. Plus, they do sushi.

Bongo Billy’s Salida Café
300 W. Sackett.
Salida, Colorado
(719) 539-4261
www.bongobillys.com
Great food, full bar, no smoking, friendly owner and staff, a back porch that overlooks the Arkansas River. Who could ask for more? A must-stop on any Route 50 Colorado road trip.

Peaceful Henry’s
Guffey, Colorado
No address necessary. Just go to Guffey and you’ll find it.
Okay, here’s the address...1245 Canon St
And the number...719-689-6475
www.peacefulhenrys.com
(Guffey is a beautiful town half way between Hartzel and Canon on Rte 9. Call Peaceful Henry’s for directions...They can do it better than me.) The big wooden beams make Peaceful Henry’s feel a bit like a big hunting lodge. It’s Colorado casual all the way, with a touch of elegance. The food is what I call gourmet home cooking. That is, it’s really good but not pretentious. A great destination for a weekend mountain drive.
